'Level Cap' refers to the maximum level the Digimon can reach and can be raised by degenerating. Sometimes it's best to leave those for later in the game, when you will have better facilities, the ability to feed them at the restaurant for their meals, better Tamer Skills, and the ability to lock in your Digivolution.
